What was already a fabulous episode upped the ante and freaked us out during the final 30 seconds. Our friends were madly texting and calling us — could this really be true? Serena… a MURDERER?

The final moments were so completely unnerving, we believed it. Between Blair’s coaxing and Serena’s frantic, teary pleas, the girls had us convinced something utterly awful was about to surface. And when Serena finally blurted it out, we stayed rooted to our seats in shock.

There has to be more to the story, right? We find it hard to believe that sunshiney, cheery Serena would kill someone — no matter what the circumstances. Okay, so Georgina was involved… but to what degree?

Georgina continued to terrorize Serena, displaying just how much power she has over her so-called friend: posing as Dan and Vanessa’s new pal, outing Eric at the dinner table, and sending Serena that tape. We felt chills when Serena realized what she was up against… but it was too late. How could she tell Dan the truth now?

Though we’ve had lots of issues with Dan’s judgmental nature in the past, we can hardly blame him for being skeptical of Serena at this point. All he’s seen lately is her avoiding him, hanging with Chuck (who we missed in this episode! No Chuck OR Nate), and partying through the SATs. Even if she told him the truth about Georgina, he’d have little reason to believe her at this point.

Meanwhile, Jenny seemed to have everything going her way: she had a boyfriend with a pedigree, she was hosting a fabulous party, and Blair was most definitely NOT invited.

What could make Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), our favorite bad-girl-gone-good, look so blue? Apparently, her life and reputation are on the line!

Yes, you’re looking at brand new “Gossip Girl” wedding scene stills, shot on location today in New York (where, apparently, some other “Gossip Girl” bloggers reside).

Our Serena (the lovely Lively, a longtime resident of Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world) is rocking her multi-tiered pale yellow floral chiffon halter gown designed by Ralph Lauren. (A perfect dress for a picnic in the California poppy fields. Hmmm?)

But why so East Coast glum, Serena? What is G up to now? Of course, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) is there, preparing to do battle with G (Michelle Trachtenberg) while wearing a pink Collette Dinnigan frock.

Bad boy Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) turn up in their formal wear. And you just know that the society wedding of the year will provide Serena the chance to finally pour out her heart and the truth about her past to Dan.

As previously reported, Lydia Hearst guest stars in the episode as Amelia, a stylin’ interior decorator in a pair of amaaaaazing gladiator heels by Siegerson Morrison.

We do wonder if the gossip girls at New York mag have any more daily intel into this wedding scene. After all, it is conveniently located right in their backyard.

Is it hot in here, or is it just… Blake Lively! The Gossip Girl star was looking terrific in a yellow dress, perfecting her Laura Ashley / Scarlett O’Hara look, shooting scenes in New York City on Wednesday afternoon.

We love Blake Lively’s character, Serena van der Woodsen, because of her personality - but her terrific sense of style doesn’t hurt either!

Looks like there is yet another new girl in town on the set of Gossip Girl.

In addition to actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who makes her GG debut on next week’s episode, one of Michelle’s very good friends, socialite/model/bag designer Lydia Hearst, will also be joining the cast for the season finale.

“I play Amelia, an interior decorator,” Lydia, gorgeous as always in a Marchesa dress, told OK! at A Night of a Thousand Lights event benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. “It’s exciting, and I will say that I have a moment with [co-star Ed Westick's character] Chuck Bass.”

And though the Gossip Girl set has no shortage of male hotties, including Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed, the blonde beauty admitted her favorite is the rocker dad played by Matthew Settle.

Be sure to watch Lydia make her Gossip Girl debut during the season finale in May.

Ed Westwick lowers his head, narrows his eyes and curls his mouth into his signature Chuck Bass snarl. Hovering at the edge of the “Gossip Girl” schoolyard set wearing one of the dandy’s trademark candy-colored garments (this one’s a traffic-cone orange trench coat), Westwick hops up and down, shaking out his arms like a boxer.

His foes? Two of TV’s most, well, gossiped-about girls, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), the lead characters on the modestly rated but wildly buzzed- and blogged-about CW teen drama that’s arguably permeating pop culture in a way not seen since “The OC.”

On Monday (7 p.m.), Serena, Blake, Chuck and the rest of the preternaturally groomed gang of private high schoolers are back on the Upper East Side to continue the cavorting begun before the writers’ strike. Shenanigans then included breaking into the school pool for a martinis-and-bikinis party; sleeping with a boyfriend — and his best friend — as Blair did; and taking the inevitable pregnancy test. All of which, of course, “everyone does,” jokes Meester, especially within the same week.

Expect ratcheted-up raciness in the final five episodes of Season 1, cast members say. “These scripts have been really, really juicy and exciting,” Lively, 20, says.

OMFG, thank God Gossip Girl is back. We all knew that Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) would stage a comeback after her humiliating fall from grace. The real question was how or if Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) was going to fight back?

Naturally, Little J can’t run with the big girls forever because she’s po’. Well, relatively po’, anyway. She has to resort to stealing Valentinos and begging Nate (Chace Crawford) to borrow $8000 (”I promise to pay you back!” Yeah right.) just to make sure that she looks good at the birthday party that she can’t afford to throw. Since J can’t compete like that, she has to supplement her slim pocketbook with some good, old-fashioned bitchiness. But Blair has bitchiness in spades, as well, so who is going to win? In the very early overnight results, Gossip Girl got a 1.8/3 - slightly better than its last original episode on January 9, when it followed the pitiful (and cancelled) Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants it got a 1.7/3 (household rating/share) and 2.27 million viewers. Notably, One Tree Hill which followed Gossip Girl last night got a 2.0/3 with no press, no buzz, and no Google ad spend.

Whatever the final overnight numbers, Gossip Girl will not have eclipsed 3 million viewers.
