“Gossip Girl” star Taylor Momsen will be back   onset within days after winning her battle with a “life-threatening throat infection.”

The 15-year-old actress was admitted to a medical facility in Los Angeles on Sunday, where she was treated for the unspecified condition.

Her doctor, Shawn Nasseri, tells UsWeekly.com, “She has been hospitalized for a severe, potentially life-threatening throat infection since Sunday. After aggressive antibiotics and medications, she is expected to make a full recovery in the next three to five days.”

The teenager was released from hospital on Wednesday and is now recuperating at home, according to People.com.

And “Gossip Girl” bosses insist she will be back at work onset in New York by the end of the week.

A statement from the show’s CW network says, “Taylor Momsen is a beloved member of our ‘Gossip Girl’ cast and we are happy to report she is on the road to a speedy recovery. We all look forward to her planned return to work on Friday.”

That eyeliner’s looking a little thick, dear.

Oh, little Jenny Humphrey — er, Taylor Momsen! The charming 15-year-old Gossip Girl actress must be swept up in discovering herself, fashion sense included. Because earlier this week at a M.A.C-sponsored Fashion Week kickoff dinner at Café Select downtown, the little cherub was all choppy bangs and kohl-rimmed eyes, wearing a very black, very severe Dolce & Gabbana frock. This marked Momsen’s second Joan Jett–inspired party outfit in as many weeks: Last week she wore a black leather-jacket ensemble with smoky eyes for a Henri Bendel event. For those of us accustomed to the smiley schoolgirl’s on screen knee socks and frilly, pastel-intense party dresses (now, of yore), it was a little startling. But at Café Select, she said she’s obsessed with Alexander Wang and D&G’s edgy offerings. And canary-yellow minidresses she’s worn to parties past aside, Momsen claims she’s always preferred to dress on the dark side. “I don’t think I ever wore anything tacky. I always wear dark colors.”

Then again, maybe it’s all an elaborate life-imitating-art thing, since Momsen also hinted that her Gossip Girl character is headed for White Oleander territory: “Jenny goes through a giant transformation this season — from the Jenny you know to a completely different person.” Ooooh! Still, let’s keep a watchful eye on this (predictably?) unpredictable 15-year-old: Many months before the entire world flipped their wig over Miley Cyrus’s bare back in Vanity Fair, the media barely batted an eyelash when Momsen, then just 14, graced the cover of this mag in her skivvies.

The young woman who approached the table by the window at the Pinkberry on Eighth Avenue and 18th street was nervous, breathless. She was sorry to interrupt, sorry to be a bother, she said. It was just that she loved Taylor Momsen so much.

The just-barely-15-year-old Ms. Momsen, who plays aspiring queen bee Jenny Humphrey on the CW show Gossip Girl, gave the woman—who looked to be at least in her mid-20s, and was clutching a napkin and shaking like a whippet in winter—a warm, practiced smile and helped her locate a pen and piece of paper so she could sign the autograph on something suitable. Ms. Momsen scribbled her name with a girlish curlicue flourish, and offered a friendly wave goodbye as her fan skipped elatedly out the door.

It’s a regular occurrence now for Ms. Momsen (“The older girls get nervous. The younger girls, cry,” she said), who, over the summer, has become the obsession of a strange and ragged slice of New York. Even as her co-stars have ascended the ladder of gossip-worthiness—the golden-locked goddess Blake Lively and the impressively sideburned Penn Badgley have had a very public romance while dandy-dressing, secretly English Ed Westwick has hardly been shy about his carousing—Ms. Momsen has emerged as the show’s true It Girl: admired, lusted after and, of course, scorned. Girls and young women covet her style (which ranges from bright, simple and sophisticated to mix-and-match punk). Boys and men—in their teens and 20s and beyond—can’t help but be drawn to her coltish beauty (even as that fact could make them uncomfortable). And there are the requisite haters, too, so unnerved by Ms. Momsen’s uncanny poise and sudden ubiquity that they can’t help but snipe at her. The blonde who plays Jenny Humphrey on the hit show was spotted outside a Starbucks this week - and in Herald Square, in the West Village, on an Upper West Side bus, even at the Meadowlands!
